Sunset Light Black and White
by Debra and Dave Vanderlaan
.... At the very top of the overlook in the Chilhowee Recreation Area is the best spot to take in the sunset on a beautiful autumn evening. This area is part of the Cherokee National Forest in the Smoky Mountains and is located in Tennessee above the Ocoee River Gorge. This spot overlooks Parksville Lake and shows the mountain peaks surrounding the town of Benton...To the Cherokee, Chilhowee means 'the place of the Kingfisher'. At the Chilhowee Mountain Overlook near Benton, Tennessee, you are the king of the mountain. At just under one half-mile high, your view is from high above the treetops looking down on the valley below.
It is a surreal scene that dwarfs you by comparison but makes everything seem close enough to touch. The effect simultaneously leaves you awe inspired and overwhelmed. Welcome to the splendor of the Appalachian Mountains as seen from the Cherokee Mountain overlook. www.CelebrateLifeGallery.com

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
