Description
April is a beautiful time of year
to explore the Smoky Mountains
and discover the multitudes
of pretty wildflowers
that bloom all over
the mountainsides
and forest floors.
An ethereal light shimmers
through the morning mist,
captured here
in the Cherokee National Forest
near the borders of Tennessee
and North Carolina.
This path leads up
to the Chilhowee Overlook
above the Ocoee River
and Parksville Lake.
The trail meanders
through the meadows and forests
up and over the mountain
and down to Benton Falls
which cascades
over a large granite rock bed
and splashes into a large cold pool
of fresh water at it's base...
