... A gorgeous light glows
in the sky to the west
as the sun sets
over this pretty forest.
The long wooden fence line
surrounds the edge
of the pasture
and the mountains can be seen
in the distance.
The afternoon rain has subsided
and the thunderclouds parted
to show off the late evening
color in the sky.
The fence is still wet
and the colors are brilliant
and deep as night
starts to creep in.
This gorgeous country scene
was captured on the back country
roads of North Carolina
in the Smoky Mountains.
Also known as the Blue Ridge
Appalachian Mountains,
these old friends extend
through several states
and are some of the oldest
mountains in the United
States of America.
The Blue Ridge Parkway is just
adjacent to this pastureland
