... Floating
in the late afternoon sunlight,
the clear clean water
of the Everglades reflects
the deep blue sky above,
lily-pads glisten
in the moist environment.
Reeds of grass grow
in the shallows
creating a beautiful abstract
pattern of shapes, shadows,
and light.
Frogs croak and alligators lurk
just around the corner,
warming themselves
in the glow of sunshine
as evening draws near...
Grassy Waters Preserve,
