Eclipse Diamond Ring Effect with Solar Flares by Debra and Dave Vanderlaan... Photographing the full solar eclipse on August 21, 2017 was a phenomenal experience, something we will never forget in our entire lifetime! This image was captured at the moment when the moon had shifted a tiny bit at the end of the full eclipse to reveal the Diamond Ring effect. The tiny bit of sunlight coming through shows up like a brilliant diamond on the edge of the black circle of shadow of the moon. In this image, you can see lens and solar flares captured in the camera lens in the total blackness of the night during totality, Everyone at the park where we viewed the eclipse in Murphy, North Carolina yelled in delight when the complete darkness fell for over 2 full minutes...
