"Barn in the Woods"

... A forest of trees
shelters the old barn
on the edge of the river...
A rusty red metal roof
caps the weathered wood
of this antique barn,
found on the edge
of a large farm pasture
in the Appalachian Mountains.
This pretty meadow
is at the base
of the Blue Ridge Mountains
of North Carolina,
near the borders of north Georgia
and Tennessee.
The Cherokee National Forest
is very near-by,
a beautiful natural forest
of maples and oaks,
pines and dogwoods.
Filled with meandering trails,
streams, and waterfalls,
this mountain range
is one of the oldest on this earth.
Captured in the middle of autumn,
the trees glow in oranges,
reds, and golds, reflected
in the calm clear waters
of the Valley River...
