Artist's Description
"Cherohala Skyway"
by Debra and Dave Vanderlaan
... A lone oak tree stands
above the autumn color of the maples below... This was captured on the Cherohala Skyway late autumn. The sky was filled with rain clouds settling low over the high mountains of this unique and beautiful scenic roadway. Chero-hala is a combination of two national forest names, the Cherokee and the Nantahala. The Skyway loops through the two parks, climbing high into above 5000 foot elevations. The overlooks are numerous and beautiful, overlooking the mountains and valleys in this gorgeous area. The Skyway starts in Tellico Plains, Tennessee and ends in Robbinsville, North Carolina or vice versa. Along the way, there are many trails and several waterfalls to investigate by taking some side trips or doing a bit of hiking. Enjoy the Smoky Blue Ridge Mountains through our gallery of images!
