... At the edge of the lake
stands a lone
weeping willow tree in the fog...
Captured in the Appalachian
Mountains of North Carolina
in a misty morning,
there is not a breath of wind
to stir the clear clean waters
of this high mountain pond,
fed by the Persimmon Creek
in the Smoky Mountains.
A solitary bench beckons
the early morning walker
to have a seat for a moment
to enjoy the quiet
of the early hour.
Even the birds are hushed,
waiting for the mist to clear
and the sun to burn through
to start their day of song.
Captured in late summer
when the greens
of the long growth
since Spring is lush,
the peace of the Blue Ridge
mountains envelopes the senses
and quiets the soul...
