Description
The Ha'Penny Bridge in Dublin at Night
by Debra and Dave Vanderlaan
... Just after sunset, the historic
Ha'Penny Bridge in downtown
Dublin is a landmark. An old
pedestrian bridge named
after the toll that was once charged,
a half penny to cross, shortened
to the Dublin Irish way of saying it
to Ha'Penny! Nearing dusk, lights
are beginning to come on
in the bridge lights and downtown
and nightlife is about to commence
in this fun and fair European city.
See all of our Ireland images
and then look at our many other
photography subjects in our big
gallery of fine art!

Great capture of this very elegant bridge for such a big span Debra and Dave! BTW just out of interest before decimal currency, the coin was always pronounced ha'penny across the whole of the UK. It was also an accurate ready made reference to the measurement of exactly one inch across its diameter. :).....l/f
