... An old dairy farm
is captured here in the Spring....
This old truck is either
a Plymouth or a Dodge,
rusted but still beautiful
in it's own way.
The barns are very old,
vintage 100-year old stone
and wood calving barns
and cattle feed barns,
painted a bright red,
the red metal roofs glowing
in the early start of the day
sunlight
through the big oak trees.
The air smells like
hay and manure
as the day begins
and the coolness
of the morning hangs
over the fields.
This farm is in
the Smoky Mountains
of western North Carolina
near the borders of Georgia
and Tennessee.
The Blue Ridge Appalachian
mountains are full
of small family-owned farms.
This one is in a pretty valley
between the mountain ridges,
tucked into
the beautiful Smokies...
