"Carolina Railroad Trestle"
by Debra and Dave Vanderlaan
... An abandoned railway line
captured in the early morning
late in the Spring...
The tracks span the distance
between Andrews, North Carolina
and Murphy.
This line is called the L&N
for Louisville and Nashville
and is located
in the middle
of the Smoky Mountains.
The rails run straight
through a long tunnel,
shown here
at the end
of the trestle
spanning this small creek.
The tunnel was blasted
with dynamite directly
though the heavy granite rock
and makes for a very
interesting walk
through to the other side!

The Vanderlaans are both award-winning photographers and well-known both domestically and internationally. Many of their images showcase the tropical landscapes of South Florida and the mountain vistas of the Smoky Mountains and many gorgeous scenes around the world. Their motto is Celebrate Life and that seemed a natural name for their gallery. Their images have been displayed in the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC, at the North Carolina Museum of Art, Turchin Art Center in Boone NC, the Palm Beach Photography Museum, the Art Center in Blue Ridge, Georgia,...
