...Poppies at sunrise,
facing the rising sun
on a foggy morning
in the fresh mountain air
of North Carolina
very close to the borders
of Tennessee and Georgia.
The petals of the poppies
resemble crepe paper,
so delicate and fragile.
The seeds of these wildflowers
were planted way back
in the late autumn,
before the winter snows
came to blanket them
until the warmth of
Spring could bring
these pretty blooms
into the world.
The poppies are joined
by the most lovely
purple delphiniums,
nodding their heads
toward the rising sun...

be part of the Finalists in the
Appalachian State University's
Photography Contest of 2012,
